"Meals ready to eat" are made for the USA military services.  Spare ones have been made for surplus sales.  However, the USA military has discouraged sale of surplus MRE's.

When I say, to you, "discouraged sale of surplus mres", I mean they have been effective in makin them harder to be gotten.

They are not freeze dried survival food.  Allegedly, they taste better than does freeze dry food.  However, the entrees must be cooked, and they come with a small heater, for the job.

The department of defense, so called, of the United States of America, so called, insists that you have A-rations with your mre meals.  That means fresh food, brother (/sister).

So, if you plan to go into survival mode, it will be best if you learn the plants in the area where your mode will be gone into by you.  I say plants, because plants are usually easiest to obtain, before fish, fowl, beetle, and beast.

All flowers are edible, so long as they do not come from a poisonous plant.  That is truly helpful knowledge, but only if you know which are the poisonous plants.
